After 30 Years The Chocolate Factory
is a Cedarburg Landmark

The Chocolate Factory opened it's doors in May of 1972.

Mike Toffler had been in the ice cream business for several years when Peter Blommer approached him about starting an ice cream parlor in Cedarburg.

The original ice cream parlor, that also sold candy, was opened on a shoestring. The first menu was hand-printed and the business was designed on the back of a napkin.

By October of the same year, the exclusively ice cream shop, added the now famous subs to the menu. Not long after it was opened, the owners decided they needed something to distinguish themselves. While the Chocolate factory had always made it's own hot fudge, Blommer decided to take a food science course at the university so they could make their own very high quality ice cream...The rest is history.

All 7 of the Chocolate Factory location's reflect the traditions and atmosphere that were started right in Cedarburg in 1972, a place where people can reminisce, families can gather and youth can get together.
.

The Original Handwritten menu for the Chocolate Factory featured 20-cent ice cream cones, 55-cent milk shakes and 40-cent floats.
Just down from the Chocolate Factory' may often be heard when residents give directions. 'We've always been kind of a landmark. We want to continue that.'
